So Thursday, July 24 was the first day of the 2008 San Diego Comic Con Convention!!! It was a long and tiring day, but definitely worthy it! J So I’m going to give a very detailed summary of the day because 10 years from now I want to be able to remember all the details from that day. Haha. Sorry if I ramble and jump from topic to topic…twilight fever and the lack of sleep have fried my brains!
So I went to sleep at like 12 am on Thursday morning and I was up at 3:00 am to get ready to leave for San Diego! I don’t know what was going through my mind when I thought I’d be able to get through a hectic day at Comic Con on 3 hours of sleep. lol. I went with my sister, her boyfriend, and his little brother. We got to the Convention Center at 6 am and got into a long ass line outside of Hall A to get our badges. We passed the entrance to Hall H and there was already a line of people who had camped out there the night before…we saw the Twilight Moms…they were the first ones in line! Wherever we looked, we saw Twilight shirts…a lot of Team Edward shirts…a few Team Jacob shirts. It made me all giddy!!
At around 8 am, they let us into the Convention Center to get our badges and once that was done, we all went to Hall H to get in line for the 20th Century Fox: “The Day The Earth Stood Still” and “Max Payne” panel because that was the panel before the Summit Pictures panel….the line was insanely long…there were probably 2,500 people in line by the time we got to the end of it…thank goodness Hall H can hold 6,500 people!!!! haha. We had to get in line for the 20th Century Fox panel because the Convention Center doesn’t clear out rooms in-between events and we figured that Twilighters would be camping out in Hall H as soon as it opened.
The heat started to get to my sister, so her boyfriend suggested that we go into the air conditioned Sails Pavilion, where they’d be holding the raffle for the “Twilight” autograph signing. Because there were so many people there for “Twilight,” Comic Con had to limit the size to 75 people and those 75 people would be determined by whoever pulled out a raffle ticket that had a stamp on the back. The location of the raffle wouldn’t be revealed until 5 minutes before the drawing would happen, so there was just a huge blob of maybe 200-300 (?) people clustering in the Pavilion waiting for the drawing. There were also drawing for other Summit movies like “Push” and “Knowing,” but no one was there for those movies…we were all waiting for “Twilight.” lol.
Then a huge guy stood on a chair and screamed “TWILIGHT!” and pointed towards the direction we had to go and everyone trampled over each other…I was squished in between 2 very large men. lol. The drawing started and occasionally I heard a fan girl scream, so I was nervous that they’d run out of tickets. Sadly, my sister didn’t get a winning ticket, but I went to pick my ticket and there was a stamp on the back of it!!!!!!!! I seriously thought I was hallucinating!! It was sooo surreal! So I started to fan girl scream and my sister and I were jumping up and down! lol. But then we had to high tail it to Hall H because my sister’s bf said that the line was moving and they were almost into Hall H. We had to run from one end of the Convention Center to the other (it’s equal to 8 city blocks or half a mile!!!) and it was so crowded! The security guards kinda looked at us like we were crazy. lol.
We got into Hall H and grabbed some seats. Then all of a sudden the black curtain covering the back wall starts collapsing because the metal poles holding it up were bending!! Thankfully, no one was hurt, but that delayed the start of the 20th Century Fox Panel because the people in charge wanted to double check the other curtains. The wait was driving me crazy because I was so anxious to get started so that we could finally get to the Twilight panel. We started at 12 pm.
11:30-1:00 20th Century Fox: The Day The Earth Stood Still and Max Payne—
Stars Keanu Reeves and Jennifer Connelly, plus director Scott Derrickson and producer Erwin Stoff, present an exclusive look at The Day The Earth Stood Still, Fox's contemporary reinvention of its 1951 classic. Keanu is Klaatu, an alien whose arrival on our planet triggers a global upheaval. As governments and scientists race to unravel the mystery behind the visitor's appearance, a woman (Jennifer) and her young stepson get caught up in his mission—and come to understand the ramifications of his being a self-described "friend to the Earth." Klaatu Barada Nikto.
The legendary interactive video game Max Payne comes to the big screen, telling the story of a maverick cop determined to track down those responsible for the brutal murder of his family and partner. Hell-bent on revenge, his obsessive investigation takes him on a nightmare journey into a dark underworld. As the mystery deepens, Max is forced to battle enemies beyond the natural world and face an unthinkable betrayal. "Max Payne" himself—Mark Wahlberg—will be on hand with Mila Kunis, Ludacris, and director John Moore to discuss turning the game's noirish, hard-hitting, and complex world and characters into a movie event.

The panel for “The Day The Earth Stood Still” was kinda boring, but then came “Max Payne”!!!!!!!! Mark Wahlberg was sooo cute! He was super sweet and funny! He loved when the fan girls would scream…he said he felt like he was in Japan because after everything he does the crowd would scream! Then he said now he knows why New Kids On the Block wanted to reunite. lol. Mila Kunis was adorable and so sassy. It was also really cool to see Ludacris! I have a really cute video of Mila and Mark…I’ll post it as soon as I can upload it.
After the cast of “Max Payne” left the stage, the moderator got a note from some Australian airline saying that….Hugh Jackman had arrived!!! He came onto the stage and talked to us for a little while and then he showed us a teaser for “X-Men Origins: Wolverine.”
After a 15 minute break, the Summit Pictures panel started!!!

The moderator mentioned “Push” and “Knowing,” then he was like “You guys might not have heard about this little movie, but it’s called….Twilight” and the crowd erupted into fan girl screaming!!! lol. The cast of “Push” came out and Chris Evans is such a cutie!! He’s sooo funny…he loved it every time the fan girls would scream for him ^_^ Dakota Fanning was suppose to be at the panel, but she was stuck in traffic on the 5 freeway (which is a killer freeway). Later, the director for “Knowing” came out and he talked to the moderator and there was some Q&A with the audience and then what we were all anticipating……
TWILIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The guys behind me even said “omg, Twilight is next…I better plug my ears because there is gonna be a lot of teenage girls screaming” lol. The panel moderator welcomed onto the stage: Taylor, Edi, Rachelle, Cam, Kristen, Robert, Stephenie, and last but not least, Catherine.
*I'll be posting my Comic Con videos and comments about them later because it'll take me a while to upload them*
So after the Twilight panel, the moderator said that Dakota had finally arrived and she wanted to say hi to everyone. She walked onto the stage and thanked everyone for being there and she said how much she really wished that she could have made it on time for the “Push” panel. It’s so weird to see how tall she is! I always remember her as the little girl in “I am Sam” or “Uptown Girls.”
After we all managed to get out of Hall H, we had to find our way to Room 28E so that I could get the Twilight casts’ autograph!! We went upstairs and I got into the line. The wait wasn’t too bad…maybe 15 minutes. Then I got into the room and OMG! They look so gorgeous up close and in person! I was standing in line and I noticed that Cam wasn’t busy signing anyone’s poster, so I called out his name and said “Cam! I loved you on ‘The O.C.’!” and then he shook his hands in the air was like “yeah!!” haha he was so sweet and funny!
So when I got to the table, the first person I met was Stephenie. I told her that I was so excited to meet her, she’s an amazing author, and the Twilight series made me love to read because I rarely read for fun. She said that she was glad that she made reading enjoyable for me. She also commented on my shirt and she thought it was really pretty! Next was Catherine…she was so sweet. I told her that I’m sure she did an amazing job with Twilight because she’s a great director.
Next was ROBERT!!!!!!! I told him that his hair was super sexy and he was like “Really? Thanks! Most people find it annoying.” haha I told him that it was perfect that way it is ^_^ Then I said that I didn’t think he had big feet (remember that MTV news interview?) and he laughed and said that he didn’t think so either. He looked at my shirt and I told him that Ransom was outside (because I had “Spunk” written on my shirt and my sister had “Ransom” written on hers, but sadly she didn’t win the raffle, so she couldn’t go into the room with me.) He laughed and covered his face because he never knew that the fans would take the nickname he made up so seriously. Next, I delivered a message for Myesha and said that if she married Rob, she’d clap for him between every take of every movie he’d make. Rob thought that was sweet and he laughed.
Then it was KRISTEN!!! Her skin is so pretty! I told her that she was so funny during the panel and I loved all of her movies…even her cameo in “Jumper!” I told her that I memorized her 8-word dialogue in the movie! haha She said that was sweet and she watched “Jumper” for the first time the other day and she thought it was funny.
Then came Taylor! What a cutie! I told him that I thought he was so handsome and he said “thanks, that’s really sweet” and he shook my hand ^_^ Then came Edi and he asked “where’s Ransom?” So I told him that my sister had “Ransom” on her shirt, but she was outside the room. He asked me how everyone got the opportunity to get into the autograph signing and I explained to him the raffle and everything.
Then came Rachelle!! He hair is gorgeous! Such a pretty color! I told her that she did a great job during the panel. She said that she was really nervous because there were so many people, but I said at least the lights were off, so that she couldn’t see all 6,500 people. haha She agreed that that was a good thing…she said she was trying to take pics of the crowd while she was up there. Lol
And last but not least was gorgeous CAM!!!!! He told me that Kim’s a good name because he has a niece (or someone…I was to in awe of his hotness to remember. lol) named Kim. I told him that he was super funny during the panel and that I wouldn’t mind having him bite me *gasp* lol He laughed and told me to remember that I said that *blush* hehehe
Then, sadly, I had to leave the room after one last look at that freaking gorgeous cast *sigh*
After all of that madness, we decided to go downstairs to go into the main exhibit hall where all the booths were. We found the Summit Pictures booth, but there were so many people there and we needed vouchers to take pics with the cardboard cutouts, so we didn’t get to take pics with the cardboard cutouts…it’s ok though…I’ll photoshop my sister and I into a pic. lol. Also, they ran out of Twilight trading cards so we didn’t get those, but out friend is working one of the booths on Saturday and Sunday, so she said she’d try and visit the booth and get us Twilight stuff.
Even thought it was only 4:30 pm, we were all drained and dead tired…someone even had a meltdown (love you! <3) so we decided it was time to go home.
The End.
Pics will be in the next entry =)
